Project Prospective

I wanted to take some time to talk about a recent project that I did for one of my web development classes. For this project I needed to redesign the Topsail Beach, NC website. One of the reasons I wanted to talk about this project is because it was one of my first times using Bootstrap to design a website. Before this I had been using mostly just CSS to style my sites. At first I was a little skeptical, learning new frameworks can be daunting but to my surprise it wasn’t that had to figure out especially after some practice. After all, isn’t that the purpose of framework? To make time consuming or complex tasks simpler and faster? That’s exactly what I felt Bootstrap accomplished. I was able to make some design choices that I never would have if I was relying on just CSS. It would have been way too complicated and time consuming for me in the timeframe I had to complete the project.

All in all I was impressed with the power and potential of the Bootstrap framework. It did take some time to figure out how to use it, but once I did the time lost leaning it was made up for in the time saved from not having to write all of the CSS myself. The moral of this story is to not be afraid of trying something new. It could lead to finding useful tools that can be used to make you a better more efficient web developer.
