Three Things I Love About Being a Web Developer

“Websites promote you 24/7: No employee will do that.”

-Paul Cookson

I first got my feet wet in web development in high school. I enjoyed that class and thought creating websites was a cool concept. I lost touch with it for years and regained my interest a couple of months ago. What I like about web development is that you can create creative websites. All you need is to learn some languages like HTML, CSS, and for interactivity, JavaScript. These languages aren’t the most difficult to learn. If something is difficult or you need help, web development comes with abundant support online like the w3school.

Although web development is interesting, I didn’t exactly choose it as a career solely because I want to build creative websites. Two things that are essential for me for any career I am interested in are its outlook and salary. I prioritize job stability. I want a career with a good outlook because it means that there are numerous opportunities and less chance of unemployment. Web development as a career is projected to grow 27 percent in the next 10 years. This is a result of an increase in internet usage and more companies having an online presence and thus requiring web developers to make websites. Salary is also important to me. I want a career with a salary enough to be comfortable and secure. Web developer salary has a median of about 70,000 dollars. The actual salary can be lower or higher, but even the lowest salary is still sufficient for me. So, in conclusion, three things I like about being a web developer are building creative websites, the salary you can earn, and the job outlook.
