“Every great developer you know got there by solving problems they were unqualified to solve until they actually did it.”
— Patrick McKenzie
Jumping into a whole new career can be very, very scary, especially when you don’t know an ounce of information that goes along with being a Web Developer. For me, I embarked on this journey in August 2022. Originally, my major was UX Design and I started out with Google’s UX Design Course. However, after just two classes, I realized that this wasn’t the right path for me. Nonetheless, it was through UX Design that I developed an interest in coding. And I’m proud to say that I’ve recently completed my first year of school and am now on track to start my second and final year.
So… what are the three things you love about being a Web Developer then?
To be completely honest, I don’t love being a Web Developer—at least, not yet. But I do find aspects of it appealing.
I appreciate the feeling of satisfaction when I see my website fully up and running, bringing my ideas to life. I also find joy in troubleshooting, mainly because I love the sense of relief that washes over me when I identify and solve a problem. Additionally, I have a certain interest for learning new programming languages, even though the journey to understanding them has brought me to tears on many occasions.
So, is this love? I’m not entirely certain, but I do hope I’m on the right path.
